We’re excited for our 3rd Annual Community Day happening from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 6 at our Oak Ridge Branch! This is your opportunity to meet some of our credit union Community Partners, learn about how they serve our local area, sign up for door prizes, and grab some giveaways! This is a free event that is open to the public, so invite your friends and family and be sure to stop by!

What is a CDFI Credit Union?

A Community Development Financial Institution – or CDFI – has a mission of promoting community development while providing financial products and services to the community it serves. TN Members 1st was designated as a CDFI in 2020, making us eligible to participate in specialized programs and grant-funded initiatives.

CDFIs invest in local communities and the residents who live there by providing critically needed financing often unavailable from mainstream financial institutions. Through different strategies, each CDFI contributes to the cultivation of a healthy, stable local economy. We have always been committed to providing quality, member-based products and services to help individuals and families at any stage of their financial journey, and that doesn’t change with our designation as a CDFI. We’re here to meet the ever-growing financial needs of all people.

The CDFI designation is given and certified by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund to organizations that provide financial services in low-income communities and to people who lack access to mainstream banking. Click here to visit the CDFI Fund website.

Our Commitment to Community Initiative focuses on partnering with local organizations to make a difference through charitable giving and program support. DOOR PRIZE TERMS AND CONDITIONS: Must complete and return Community Day Community Vote form by 5:00 pm EST, Wednesday, November 6, 2024. Completed forms can be turned in at the Tennessee Members 1^st Federal Credit Union table at our Community Day event. Forms will not be available digitally. Must be a member in good standing. If you are not currently a member, you must be eligible for membership. Membership eligibility to be determined at the time of account opening. Account must be open and approved by Friday, November 15, 2024 at 5:00 pm EST. Membership share account required; $5 minimum opening balance is required, and $10 Community Day Community Vote incentive cannot be used toward the $5 minimum opening balance. Members are limited to $10 in total Community Day Community Vote Cash. Current members Community Vote Cash will be applied to your primary share account or before end of day on November 18, 2024. New members Community Vote Cash will be applied to your primary share account on or before December 31, 2024. Employees of Tennessee Members 1st Federal Credit Union, volunteer officials, and their immediate families and household members are not eligible to receive $10 Community Vote Cash.
