80 years, one community
Celebrating the stories, milestones, and people who built us.
On May 15, 1946, TN Members 1st, then known as Oak Ridge Government Employees Federal Credit Union, opened its doors as the first federally chartered credit union in Oak Ridge, serving employees of the Department of Energy. At the time, Oak Ridge was a brand-new community, shaped by the Manhattan Project and home to approximately 75,000 residents. From a single branch inside the Department of Energy building and just a handful of members, a story began—one built on trust, service, and community.
In those early years, every milestone mattered.
Our first mortgage loan.
Reaching $1 million in assets.
Growing membership into the thousands.
Providing education to help members succeed financially.
Each moment was more than progress; it was a story of people helping people. What began in a small town once known as Site X has grown into a trusted financial partner serving communities across the region. While much has changed, one thing remains the same: our commitment to helping our members thrive. With a full range of checking, savings, lending, and investment options, along with financial education, rewards programs, and identity protection services, we’re here for every chapter of your financial journey with:
- Two convenient branch locations
- Digital banking, bill pay, and remote deposit
- The free TN Members 1st mobile app
- Automated audio access
- Access to the CO-OP Shared Branching Network nationwide
Over the past 80 years, this credit union hasn’t just grown—we’ve grown together.
Every account opened.
Every loan approved.
Every goal achieved.
They’re all part of a bigger story, our community's story. As we celebrate this milestone, we’re honoring the people who made it possible: you. We’re committed to building the future together—bringing new tools, new opportunities, and new ways to support your financial goals for generations to come. Be part of our 80th anniversary as we celebrate 80 years, One Community, and the stories that connect us all.
